Active listening is the key to effective communication as it requires a real two-way exchange of information between two or more people. There is a big difference between "hearing" someone speak and "listening with intent", so once you start using the active listening techniques taught in this course you'll experience better results in your relationships both at home and in the workplace.
The PD Training Active Listening training course teaches you crucial skills like how to how to listen attentively, how to show real interest, how to understand what you’ve heard and how to respond appropriately. This course touches on body language as well as specific types of questioning techniques. After learning and implementing these techniques you will become a more effective communicator in all situations.
PD Training's half-day Active Listening Training course is available now in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Canberra, and Perth or can be customised and delivered at your chosen location.

Kirana Training
"Everyone needs to do this. One of the best courses and trainers I have ever experienced."
-Department of Education
"Role play was a very important part."
-Gates Australia P/L
"The most useful part for me was learning how to speak to a customer, understanding how to solve their problem and the right questions to ask in order to get the information needed to help the customer. This course showed a few simple steps and procedures on how to accomplish that. I would definitely recommend to anyone!"
-Mount Druitt Ethnic Communities Agency
"It was particularly interesting about responding to customers emphatically, little things like including their name when you've asked them for it. Introducing yourself and so forth that I hadn't considered."
-Mount Druitt Ethnic Communities Agency
"The trainer provided me with some ideas that I can definitely use when working with the young adults I support."
"I found the course really informative and whilst it was only a 3 hour session."
-Wesley Mission Victoria
"The training pointed out things we take for granted that affect our effective listening skills."
-Speech Processing Solutions
"I really enjoyed the course and found the content really useful. I will try to put some of the techniques into practice."
"Great course and teacher. It is always good to learn/refresh theory and practice around effective communications techniques. One thing that I thought could have been added was empirical proof of the successes or failures around active listening. Joe did get us to do a couple of 'tricks', but hard data would have been nice at the beginning to anchor why the course is important."
-Department of Education NSW
"I like the active communication ways between the classes member and trainer as well as interesting activities thought the class."
Jen Retail Properties
"Very interesting, helpful, useful and informative. Thank you."
"I found the communication evolution tool the most useful part of the training. The level of specificity and accuracy which the results revealed about my own communication preferences and personality was eye opening! It was also really revealing in what it told me about my colleagues (some of which I've worked with for years). It will help me communicate and work effectively with a variety of my colleagues. I had all this light bulb moments, e.g. 'that's why this person communicates the way they do with me' or 'it's their personality...it's not me'. I will refer to the student manual regularly a long time after the course finished. The course material really resonated with me and I found the convenor very engaging and influential."

When you want a tailored learning experience targeting exactly what you want without bringing everyone physically together, the best choice is a Live Online Class run by PDT.
We tailor the content and activities to be specific to your current needs and the needs of the people and run the course in our usual activity-based workshop style training, however, the participants can all be offsite, or some can be in the room with others offsite.
Unless you have a preferred tools we use 'Zoom for Education' that includes enhanced collaboration features such as One-click content sharing, real-time co-annotation (people can work together in activity files), and digital whiteboarding, we also include things like live polls and group chats so you virtually have the same collaborative learning experience of attending a course in a room with other people.
We have delivered these 100's (if not 1000's) of times, and get great outcomes. We achieve great outcomes because we keep our learner centric approach - just because it’s delivered through a screen to some or all participants doesn’t mean it needs to be less tailored or less personalised.
You still have an expert trainer who talks to you prior to the session and tailors the delivery to use your terminology, ensure activities are relevant and directly applicable and ensures an engaging learning experience that provide people with skills and techniques they can apply the very next day.
A hybrid class is with some people connecting online, and some people physically together in the same room.
We provide the Training Management Centre which is an information hub before, during and after training.
